Populous: The Beginning from Bullfrog and Electronic Arts is a prequel to the other two games in the series, with a story that takes place before the others start. You find yourself on the way to becoming a powerful god in this real-time 3D strategy.

Set on a series of 3D globes, your objective is to build up each planet from a selection of people in small tribes, all worshipping a shaman under your control. These people will build up your settlement, create houses, and erect individual specialist buildings under your design. From these original inhabitants, you can select gifted individuals to be soldiers or specialist warriors and that can help you to conquer the whole planet.

The shaman under your control has mystic abilities and can cast spells to aid your troops in battle, such as striking an opponent down with lightning, directing a tornado or creating an active volcano under his settlement. Once one world is conquered, it's time to move on to the next planet...
