Mabry Gridx ActiveX v1.0.1.4 [activeX]

Date: 26 August 2008  | Author : whoknows

Mabry's Grid/X ActiveX control provides functionality and
flexibility not seen in other grid controls. The rich object model
consists of 20+ separate objects that make utilizing Grid/X's
features easy and reliable.

The following are some of the more important top-level objects found
in the Grid/X programming model:

Views - Grid/X provides multiple views of the data it manages. Views
may be split either vertically or horizontally, and you may allow
the users to resize, remove, and create new views as required. A
number of objects and properties may be used to customize the data
that appears in views. And, unique to Grid/X, is the ability to host
ActiveX controls in a View. The Grid/X tutorials show how to put
this powerful feature to good use.

RowStyles - Each RowStyle object has a Condition property. A
condition is a Boolean expression that is evaluated for each row of
data before it is displayed. You may add multiple Styles to the
RowStyles collection. When there are multiple styles, each row of
data is evaluated relative to each Style until a match is found.
Then the matching Style object is used to determine how the row's
data is displayed.

GroupByBar - The GroupByBar object provides you with an easy way to
present hierarchical data. It maintains a collection of Group
objects that determine the way that data is grouped. The GroupByBar
also serves as a user-interface element. Using the GroupByBar, users
can organize hierarchical data as they require.

StatusBar - The Status Bar is displayed at the bottom of the Grid,
when visible. There are a number of properties that provide you with
the ability to customize the StatusBar. For example, the Image and
ImageAlignment properties make it easy to add an icon or other image
to the StatusBar. And the StatusBar.Style property provides complete
control over font, colors, and more.

Like other grid controls, Grid/X supports the following data modes:

Unbound - UnboundRead and UnboundWrite events are fired when Grid/X
requires access to the dataset.

ADO/DAO - ADO/DAO recordsets/data sources are used to supply data to
the grid.

In addition to those commonly seen data modes, Grid/X supports data
modes and extensibility not seen in other grid controls.

Object - You can supply an Object as the data source for Grid/X. The
object's properties are used as the data. Appropriate columns are
created automatically.

Collection - Uses a Collection object as the source of data.

VBAdapter - This is one of Grid/X's most unusual and flexible
features. Grid/X defines a COM Interface which you may implement
using Visual Basic alone. Using the VBAdapter interface, you have
complete control over the data accessed by Grid/X and can easily
provide things such as calculated values for given cells, rows, or
columns. The Grid/X tutorials show how easy it is to use this
extensibility feature.

Grid/X provides many other features - too many to describe here -
including OLE Drag & Drop, automatic mapping of column values to
drop-down box items, built-in edit controls such as text and
calendar, the ability for you to provide custom drawing for any or
all cells, and much more.
